Good morning everyone! I address you this morning, to share with you some good news about Assumption Kokusai! But before I go ahead ‒ I would just like to thank all of you for coming here this morning;

The last months have not been easy for us and for the rest of the world. For those of you who may have been personally affected by the global coronavirus pandemic, please accept my sincerest concern and nearness; and for those of you who have been helping out in making life better for those who have been experiencing difficulty, and for all of you who are involved in ways that support society and communities bring about better days, my deepest appreciation and gratitude ‒ as an Assumption Sister and as a global citizen of the world, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

 

At Assumption Kokusai, we are inspired by five (5) CORE VALUES, namelyLIFE, TRUTH, FREEDOM, GOODNESS and ONENESS.

Taken together, we say, that this is the air that we breathe here, this is our OXYGEN and the reason why we are here.

As early as 1998, Japan’s core educational concept “Zest for Living” known in Japanese as “ikiru chikara” was already articulated. Its principle is based on Japan’s traditional holistic approach to education known as “Chi-Toku-Tai” ‒ that is the development of one’s intellectual, moral, social, physical, and psychological capacities.

In the Assumption we add the SPIRITUAL dimension. This wholistic approach is very much the Assumption Way ‒ so that when we educate a child, we educate his or her whole person ‒ mind, body, heart, spirit, and soul.
In the Assumption, our five (5) core values are the basis of all our programs and activities that hopes to provide “ikiru chikara”.

 

Allow me to share how we understand each of these five (5) Core Values.

LIFE ― is our resolve to choose always what gives LIFE ‒ in thoughts, words and actions. We recognize that we need to choose this at every moment because many times this choice may not be easy to make.
To choose life means not to entertain negativities, or words that do not give life or weakens one’s energy.

TRUTH ― is our option to always be simple and honest in our ways of thinking, speaking and doing.

FREEDOM ― is to allow each one to grow, develop and become who one is, as best and as fully as possible.

GOODNESS ― is our belief that each one is good and that there is always a good side to everything.
Therefore, this is about our choice to try to always be positive and optimistic.

ONENESS ― is the spirit of family that is the mark of the Assumption in all the 33 countries of the 4 continents where we are in the world. It is the spirit that tells us that we belong to each other, and that we care for one another with love, kindness, trust, unity, and cooperation ‒ joyfully working together in a climate of openness.

 

It is with these five (5) Core Values that we welcome you, parents of our students, as partners in their education. We cannot educate by ourselves. We count on the home and the family to work with us. In the Assumption, we believe that if we work together ‒ the school and the home ‒ a bright future for each child is possible.

KONOYOU-NI, AKARUKU HIRAKETA OKOSAMA-TACHI NO MIRAI TO ASSUMPTION KOKUSAI NO MEZASU MIRAI-WA ONAJI DESU. DOUZO ATATAKAKU MIMAMORI KUDASAI. DOMO ARIGATOU GOZAIMASHITA.

皆様、ようこそお越しくださいました。
この会に足をお運び頂きました皆様に御礼申し上げます。

この数ヵ月は、世界中が新型コロナウイルスの問題により、困難な時期を経験しました。
新型コロナウイルス感染症に何らかの影響を受けられた皆様には心からお見舞い申し上げます。
そして最前線で医療活動などのお仕事に従事されている方々に、世界の一員として、そしてアサンプション国際の一シスターとして、心からの敬意と感謝を捧げたく存じます。

アサンプション国際では学業の中で以下5つの基本理念の実践を目指しています。
この5つの理念は、私たちにとっての空気のように、当たり前に存在しています。

LIFE ― 活き活きとエネルギッシュに生きる人。
TRUTH ― いかなる時でも真実を見極め、誠実に行動する人。
FREEDOM ― 周りにながされず自分で判断し、自分らしく生きる人。
GOODNESS ― 一人ひとりの善さを大切に、ポジティブに思考・発言・行動する人。
ONENESS ― 誠実・隣人愛・喜びの精神を大切に、多様性を認め、ともに協働する人。

1998年文部科学省は、「生きる力」を基本教育理念として確立しました。この教育理念の確立は日本の伝統的な「知・徳・体」の三位一体の教育論や、個人の学力、道徳、社会性、身体力、心理的かつ精神的な力育むことを目指すものでした。

アサンプション国際はこれに「心・精神・魂」の教育的側面を加えました。
また、「生きる力」を育成するため、全ての教科と行事は5つの基本理念に基づいています。

この5つの基本理念をもって、生徒の皆さんと保護者の皆様を教育のパートナーとして歓迎いたします。
教育は私たち教員だけで成し遂げ得るものではありません。ご家族の皆様のご協力が必要です。
私たちアサンプション国際は、学校とご家庭が同じ思いをもって取り組めば、生徒一人ひとりが輝かしい将来の道に進むことができると信じています。

 

生徒の皆さんとアサンプション国際の目指す未来は同じです。どうぞあたたかく見守りください。
